- The OKR Masterclass series
Transcript
There is a significant body of research that indicates a high proportion of employees are disengaged and the high cost of low morale is in the billions for organizations.
An engaged individual delivers 2.5 times that of a disengaged individual. We can no longer operate using a traditional corporate culture, which has its roots in the industrial revolution. Very often, corporate culture stifles creativity and problem-solving. We are not in the industrial era, we are now in the digital era, moving into an era of constant change.
The ultimate emphasis for any leader in an organization must be to develop and grow their people. By developing, empowering, and engaging the people within the organization we catapult the organization to a level of achievement beyond the imagination. There is now a unanimous understanding that people and organizations have an amazing ability to change, adapt, evolve, and make the impossible possible.
OKRs are a framework that supports this journey. To climb this mountain, we are going to have to ignite people’s passion into their everyday work but also connect it to the larger purpose and mission, and vision of the organization. Future-focused organizations are recognizing this challenge.
The strategy of an organization is only as good as the engagement of the individuals employed to make that strategy happen. We are going to have to develop high-performance teams of engaged and committed individuals in the years ahead to propel organizations to their desired state.
Many organizations have individuals focusing on work that has no connection to the larger purpose of the organization. We need to move beyond a task-orientated to a results-focused culture. OKRs have helped organizations to achieve explosive growth.
