Once upon a time, two friends were working as software engineers. And they were getting increasingly frustrated about how poorly managed their projects were.
It wasn’t anybody’s fault, per se. There just didn’t seem to be any system in place. No one ever knew where a project was, and you could never be confident about the figures you were being fed.
Wasn’t this what computers and the internet were supposed to fix?
So in 1999, they banded together to start Cora Systems, which they set up in Carrick-on-Shannon. After all, if you’re going to conquer the world, you might as well do so against the majestic, wind-swept backdrop of the West of Ireland.
Back then, there was a grand total of five people working in the office there. Today, there are over 180 of us (and counting), working throughout the U.S. and across Europe. Both from home and from our offices on either side of the Atlantic.
But we’re still based in Carrick. There’s a different pace of life here, and there are worse places to change the world from.
