About Us

Our story

Once upon a time, two friends were working as software engineers. And they were getting increasingly frustrated about how poorly managed their projects were.

It wasn’t anybody’s fault, per se. There just didn’t seem to be any system in place. No one ever knew where a project was, and you could never be confident about the figures you were being fed.

Wasn’t this what computers and the internet were supposed to fix?

So in 1999, they banded together to start Cora Systems, which they set up in Carrick-on-Shannon. After all, if you’re going to conquer the world, you might as well do so against the majestic, wind-swept backdrop of the West of Ireland.

Back then, there was a grand total of five people working in the office there. Today, there are over 180 of us (and counting), working throughout the U.S. and across Europe. Both from home and from our offices on either side of the Atlantic.

But we’re still based in Carrick. There’s a different pace of life here, and there are worse places to change the world from.

Our mission: To make doing business more profitable

All businesses are faced with external challenges. But most problems are generated internally, because of rampant structural inefficiencies.

We’ve made it our goal to fix all that.

We’ve spent the last couple of decades designing and building a suite of products that seamlessly integrate all of your different processes and bring them into the one, central system.

Everything gets updated, in real time, and everyone works in the same standardized way, off the same facts and figures.

We’re devoting our professional lives to creating an architectural blueprint that can be adapted for any business, regardless of the industry you work in.

Your success is our success

We’re extremely proud of what we’ve achieved to date, but we’re even happier about what our clients have achieved with the help of Cora.

Our values

We want everyone who works at Cora to look forward to beginning work each morning. Not because we’re especially nice – though we are, actually, endearingly genial. Because it’s in our interest.

When you’re invested in where you work and value what you do, you do what you do much more effectively.

Which makes us better at what we do and deliver. Which means happier clients, customers and investors. And that means bigger and better margins, even more impressive growth and generates value all round.

So we’re determined to make working at Cora as rewarding for all of you as it is for us.

This’ll give you a pretty good idea of what working at Cora feels like.

Every couple of months, there’s a company day convened for a general catch-up and the odd libation. In May 2022, we met up at Kilronan Castle, about 20 minutes outside of Carrick. Here’s what went on – well, some of what went on.

Support

R&D initiatives in Cora are co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund and Enterprise Ireland under the Border, Midland and Western Regional Operational Program 2014-2020. The funding enables us to devote more time to R&D and, in turn, this results in rich, new functionality modules being developed for Cora PPM, which adds to your possibilities and helps us to open up new markets.
